Cat 301.4C 301.7D Replacement Idler

This is the replacement aftermarket tension idler for the Caterpillar^® 301.4C mini excavator as well as several other models below. Due to variations with the mounting arms this idler assembly now ships without the arms so you can reuse your existing mounting arms for a perfect fit.

This 456-6838 idler also fits the following models:

• Caterpillar^® 301.4C
• Caterpillar^® 301.7D
• Caterpillar^® 301.7DCR
• Caterpillar^® 302.2D(must verify size, alternate option 386-0728)
• Caterpillar^® 302.4D (must verify size, alternate option 386-0728)

The tension idler installs on the opposite end of the undercarriage from the sprocket and this is the part that expands out as you pump the grease in the tensioner to tighten the rubber track. Idlers guide the track in and out of the track rollers, support the machine's weight, and provide a way to control track slack and tension.
